To say that 2015 has been a struggle is an understatement. Much of it is my own doing. Some of it was from circumstances out of my control. And 100% of it was my poor response to the situation.
2015 has seen some tough times financially. I’ve gained 30 pounds. I’ve gone from running half marathons to barely being able to run 60 seconds… maybe.
That changes now – September 9th, 2015.
Tired of Being Fat
Today I begin eating clean. What does that mean:
- No soda. Cold turkey
- Avoiding crappy carbs – mostly processed carbohydrates
- No dairy. I’m intolerant anyway and it messes with my sinuses.
- Low to no gluten. I’m intolerant of this as well. Messes with my sinuses and joints.
Instead, I’ll be replacing all this with higher quality foods, fruits, veggies, leaner meats, more water and quality tea. I’ll also be doing meal replacement fresh veggie and fruit smoothies and juices.
Eating clean costs more money. There’s no doubt about that. That’s one of the sucky parts about being poor is you eat poor quality, highly addictive foods which pack on the pounds and do all sorts of destructive things to your organs and systems.
In addition, it’s time to return to a life of supplementation. It’s simply time to get this butt healthy again and setting this engine back on course.
My goal – drop 30 pounds by Thanksgiving (very reasonable).

Tired of Being Out-of-Shape
I’m not as bad as I was about 4-5 years ago, but I’m certainly not better than I was a couple years ago. A couple years ago I was getting to be a stronger and stronger runner. I had worked my way up to a 10:30/mile pace for a half marathon. I would go on 3-6 hour hikes. I was becoming a beast! Ha Ha
This year the goo has returned and my muscles have gone sluggish. One thing I know is that it will be easier to get back into shape than it was 4 or 5 years ago. My mind knows how to do the training and my muscles retain the memory of the exercise.
My goal – Run the Dallas Half Marathon in March, 2015. That is 192 days away. I can do that. Just need to build my plan.
My big goal – Run the Disney Marathon on Family Marathon Weekend in January 2017. In fact, I will do the half and full marathon that weekend if I can talk my wife into doing the half with me 🙂
I do best running every other day to allow my knees to recover. In the off days there are other exercises I can be doing.
Tired of Being Poor
Today I register my new business – Lone Star Marketing! Booyah!!
I’ve worked from home and run my own business for the last 12 years. I know what it takes, the effort and work that must be done, and how to run a business from home. I can do this once again.
Lone Star Marketing is a combination offline/online business marketing. The key is a 9×12 marketing postcard to promote local business. It’s brilliant and I have a good team of other business owners around the country for support. I will also be able to help local businesses with their printing needs. I made my living the last 12 years online, so I will also be offering online solutions for business, such as website development.
I’m really looking forward to the launch of my business! Waking up with purpose and conviction is all the difference for me. I know what I’m doing and where I’m heading.
There ya go.
Sometimes it all boils down to making the decision; making the choice.
I am healthy.
I am a runner.
I am a successful entrepreneur.
