Just a quick update…
I am completely out of shape. I used to run 5 – 10 miles with no problem, but that was half a lifetime ago in college. I am building toward running the entire mile, but for now it is run/walk for the mile. Each day I have been able to increase my running distance by .1 of a mile. But, lot’s of pre-marathon training left to do. When I reach the mile, I will be sure to let you know 🙂
So, why the marathon? Because running for the sake of running doesn’t really motivate me because I’m not a runner. But, throw in the element of competition, the chance to bring back some youth, the chance to feel better, the understanding that it’s going to take a lot of discipline, and that discipline is going to spill over into the rest of my life… now that is exhilerating.
There are other reasons that I’ll get into a bit later, but for now, this is good.
