2017… I’m Finally Ready For Ya!

It took me a solid month to get my goal setting, planning, vision, and dreams set for the year. Now I’m ready.  This blog post is more for my own sake than it is for anyone else. I believe in writing out my goals, sharing them, making them public, and always before me.

So, let’s get started… and not in any particular order because they are all priority!

Health

I’m dropping 50 pounds. I’ve already lost 9 pounds, so almost 20% of the way there. Everything is tied to this one factor in my life – heart, blood pressure, blood sugar, etc. I know what I have to do. I’ve started Weight Watchers for Men (the online version), and it’s time to start feeling and looking better.

Fitness

I’m getting back to running. I have 16 more pounds to lose (as of today) before I start running, so until then I will be walking and hiking – and then it’s off to the races. I’ve done 3 half-marathons in the recent past, so this year I am making it the “Year of the 5K.” A 5K is a great distance. I really enjoy running the 3.1 mile distance. Rather than just concentrating on the distance, I am going to concentrate on speed. I haven’t been fast in the past. My fastest speed was 28:50 on a practice run, and 29:07 during a race. I want to shave 3 minutes off that time. I plan on running one 5K race per month from May to December.

Business

I am back in the game baby! 2017 has gotten off to a great start and I am running my own business again. It is an online marketing business where I teach and coach others in their businesses. I love it, and it is great to be back in the saddle again. This year is about making connections, establishing my presence, and taking “lost ground” back again. I have several financial goals set for my family, my home, and the personal status of my business.

Spiritual

This year has gotten off to a great start. My primary goal is to read through the Bible cover-to-cover three times this year. This is reading through the Bible at 10 chapters per day (plus 2 Psalms and 1 Proverb) for 100 days. I want the stories, the history, the Word running through my mind and heart. I have done it one book per day for 65 days a couple times, so this will be more manageable.

Family

We have missed vacations the last two years. This year I want to take two vacations. One local, one distant. Local means somewhere in the state of Texas. Distant means somewhere outside Texas, but not to visit relatives. I do however, want to take one trip up north to visit relatives. We have missed that for 2-3 years as well.

Those are the main goals. Each one is connected. One fuels the other. I know health and fitness keep stress low and my mind clear. Spiritual keeps my perspective and hearing God’s voice. Business provides the means to do my family goals and enable me the freedom to get healthier and get fit.

It’s gonna be a GREAT year!
