Afraid of Change – Part 2

My last post was about being afraid to make a change in your life… about being imprisoned in a life based upon a series of choices (which you have made) that has you afraid to leave the comfort of your prison and thus, the deterioration of your dreams. I got to thinking more about that last night as I was out walking. I want to be clear that I am…

Afraid of Change

I speak to people now and then who talk about all these dreams they have, how they would like to run their own business, take more vacations, retire early, travel, move into a bigger home, take 3 months and go on a mission trip, etc. – but it all ends up being empty talk. When I speak to them again 6 months, 1 year, 3 years later, they are still…

Home Based Business – Starting Over

Back in 1998 I began exploring options about working from home. I was already self-employed, but I began to see potential in other directions and wanted to follow my heart in owning my own business. It took me about 5 years to really get a grasp on things. I had tried network marketing with companies like Mannatech, ProStep, ForMor, and maybe a couple of others. None of those really ever…

Joy In The Journey – Part 3 – Zaire (cont.)

Joy In The Journey – Part 3 – Zaire (cont.)

This is the second half of my 1988 summer trip to Zaire.  Here is the first half. Haut Zaire The second half of the summer began when Tim Doggett loaded us three interns into his 6-passenger, twin-engine Aztec Piper and flew us over the rain forest to the small village of Bafwasende.  There we met up with a couple of missionary families, the Bairds, and the Waltons. They quickly moved us out…

Joy In The Journey – Part 3 – Zaire

Joy In The Journey – Part 3 – Zaire

From Springfield, IL in high school, to Lincoln, IL in college, to Zaire, Africa after college. If you missed the first two parts, they are here – part 1 & part 2 This series on “Joy in the Journey” has been about my journey, starting in the summer of 1983, now up to the summer of 1988.  The summer of 1988 will go down as one of the greatest summers…

Looking For A Web Host?

There are hundreds of options for web hosting out there, and dozens of different types of packages to choose from.  It can be a bit confusing about what you actually need from a web host, all the costs, what you get, etc.  I just want to take a moment or two and give you my recommendation.  I have used about 2-3 dozen different web hosts over the last decade or…

Check Out Josh In A Disney Commerical!

This past summer we were contacted by a representative from Disney’s marketing arm, called Disney Destinations.  They were putting together the new marketing campaign to promote the Walt Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in California.  They were scouring the web when they came across one of our Disney videos on our Vimeo Video page. They liked some of the segments and asked permission to use some of them.  We…

Flash Flood – Tropical Storm Hermine

I mostly want to share a few pictures of what Tropical Storm Hermine dumped on us in North Texas.  Even after several hundred miles after making land fall, Hermine dumped about 5 inches of rain on Tuesday, and then unloaded another 10 inches on Wednesday. My daughters left for school at 7:30 am, driving our Jeep Liberty. Somewhere after 9:30 my oldest daughter calls to say that the water is…

Blogging For Bucks

One of the easiest ways to make money online is to blog.  But, just because it’s easy to do, also means that it is easy not to do and easy to overlook the basics. Some people blog and blog, and their sites are never found in the search engines. Some people blog for 3 weeks and quit. Some people blog about everything under the sun rather than staying focused. Essentially…

Wow… 4 Months Of Silence

It’s amazing how weeks and months can slip by without so much as a post or replying to a comment.  I thought I was busier than I actually was I guess. I just returned from an 8-day trip to Washington, DC. It had been 34 years since I was there last.  I was a chaperone on a Junior Class trip at my daughter’s school. Without going into all of the…

Your Girl – Music Video

You need to check out this YouTube video of my daughter.  She wrote and composed this song.  She has others that she has done, but this is the first one we have put to video. Go watch it directly on YouTube by clicking Play, and then clicking the video again to go to the YouTube site.  Once you are there, rate it with 5 stars and leave a comment if…

Week 2 – Lost 17 Pounds Now

I have not completed 2 weeks into my low carbohydrate diet.  I’ve lost 17 pounds now, due to a combination of working on my Bowflex every other day, and cutting back the sugars and carbs in my diet. Two weeks marks the end of the induction phase of the diet, although I am going to carry it for another 5 days so I can begin next Monday moving out of…
